We get this question very often and the answer?
It is never too early to introduce your child to music! However, we have to keep in mind that just as every child learns differently, they also respond to music differently based on their age. There is a difference between "formal" music lessons that require a student to sit down with an instrument for 30, 45, 60 minutes and lessons that introduce and foster a love for music at a very early age without the structure of a formal lesson. In such "informal" settings, the teacher helps the student to learn rhythms, recognize melodies and identify sounds: important musical concepts that the child will later apply to their main instrument. Please read this great article by Dr. Robert A. Cutietta that tackles the question. Enjoy!
