Denver Musical Arts 2019-2020 Calendar

Fall 2019 Semester August 19 - December 15

  • November  -  Achievement Day : an event organized by the Aurora Teachers Music Association. Let us know by late-August if you would like to participate.

  • November 25-30  -  Thanksgiving break (no lessons will take place during this week)

  • December 16-21  -  Make up week for missed lessons. Only lessons cancelled with at least a 24-hour notice may be made up. 

  • December 22  -  2-5pm Winter Recital at the Aurora Public Library (central): 14949 E. Alameda Parkway, Aurora, CO  80012 


Winter Break: December 22 - January 5

Spring 2020 Semester January 6 - May 23

      January 6 - First day of lessons 

  • March 22-27  Spring Break

  • May TBA 1:00-5:00pm Spring Recital (Aurora Public Library - 14949 E Alameda Pkwy, Aurora, CO 80012)

  • May 24-May 31 - Make up days for missed lessons. Only lessons cancelled with at least a 24-hour notice may be made up.

Schmitt Music Piano Competition

  • A state-wide event that features three divisions: Non-competitive, Competitive, and Advanced Competitive

  • Non-competitive Division: Ages 5 to 19. Application / Event date: TBA

  • Competitive Division: Ages 5 to 19. Application / Event date: TBA

  • Advanced Competitive Division: Ages 5 to 19. Application / Event date: TBA

  • Location for all events: Schmitt Music, 155 W. Hampden Ave., Suite 155B, Englewood, CO 80110

CSMTA Rising Stars Festival

  • This is a state-wide student event and it includes two categories: Competitive Stars & Non-Competitive Stars. Four divisions: Solo Piano, Solo Voice, Solo Instrument & Ensemble. 

  • Registration deadline: TBA Teacher must complete registration. Students may not register directly.

  • Application fee: $50 for competitive and $35 for non-competitive. (Please submit your payment to teacher by March 3).

  • Requirements: Two selections from two different musical periods. One technique component that includes scales, arpeggios, and chords. 

  • Front Range Preliminaries & State Finals: Saturday, April 14, 9am-5pm at the University of Denver, Lamont School of Music.

Kawai Piano Competition

  • This is a state-wide competitive event. Requirements: Two selections from two contrasting musical periods. No technique component required.

  • Application deadline: TBA. Please click here for application. (Students may submit application directly). 

  • Application fee: $20
