Who We Are

DMA was founded in Summer 2013 as the private studio of Drs. Samuel Welsh and Eneida Larti. DMA has grown to include instruction on different instruments and voice.  All instructors at DMA have achieved graduate-level training in music and have had long, distinguished careers as performers. DMA is located in a private residence in Tollgate Crossing, Aurora, Colorado.

Eneida Larti

Founder & Lead Piano Instructor

Eneida Larti enjoys a varied career as a performer, educator, and chamber musician. After emigrating from Albania in 1995, Dr. Larti continued her studies in the U.S., subsequently completing her degrees at Oklahoma City University (BM Piano, Piano-pedagogy), Indiana University (MM Piano), and University of Colorado-Boulder (DMA Piano). Her major teachers include Andrew Cooperstock, Karen Shaw, and Ernestine Scott. Eneida is the Assistant Professor of Piano and Piano Pedagogy at the University of Idaho.

Sam Welsh

Founder & Lead Piano Instructor

Sam Welsh is a native of South Florida, and completed his degrees at Jacksonville University, Ithaca College, and CU - Boulder. He also studied at Mannes College in New York City with Josef Raieff and in Paris with Vlado Perlemuter, the last living pupil of Maurice Ravel. Sam has served on the faculties of CU - Boulder, Ithaca College, and CSU - Pueblo. 

Catheryne Shuman

Voice Flute Piano

Catheryne Shuman has her Master of Music degree in Voice Performance from the Cleveland Institute of Music as well as a Professional Diploma in Opera from Roosevelt University’s Chicago College of Performing Arts. During that time she studied piano as a secondary instrument. She has been a performer and young artist across the country for many years and was the 2016 National Orpheus Vocal Competition Young Artist Grand Prize Winner. Catheryne has played and studied flute and piano for many years, and enjoys teaching them to young students

Erik Correll


Erik is a recent graduate of the University of Colorado at Boulder where he earned his M.M. in piano performance studying under Dr. David Korevaar. Starting piano at the age of 11, Erik later enrolled in the Lehigh Valley Charter School for the Performing Arts where he was awarded for “Outstanding Excellence in Music” upon graduation. He received his B.M. in piano performance studying under Dr. Jennifer Hayghe at Ithaca College where he graduated with honors.

One of his current projects includes arranging and performing with people around the world on his YouTube Channel.

Chris Reed


Christopher Reed, pianist, received his Doctor of Musical Arts degree at the Eastman School of Music where he was highly active as a recitalist and Assistant conductor for Eastman Opera Theater. A student of Dr. Jean Barr, Christopher is a two-time prize winner of the Jesse Kneisel Lieder competition, and also served as a graduate opera coach for Eastman Opera Theater. Active as a recitalist, Christopher presents recitals with partners across the United States. Most recently, he has performed at Colorado State University, Columbus State University, Missouri Southern State University, Portland State University, and the University of Alabama, as well as recitals across various locations in the Los Angeles area. Additionally, he gave master classes at Missouri Southern State University and The University of Alabama. In the past summers, Christopher has been on faculty as a pianist and coach at the Taos Opera Institute as well as the Vocal Arts Festival in Colorado Springs. Christopher was selected as a Marc and Eva Stern Fellow for Songfest where he had the privilege of working with pianists Graham Johnson, Martin Katz, and Margo Garrett. He has also worked as a vocal coach with Wichita Grand Opera. Christopher received his Masters in Piano Accompanying and Chamber Music from Eastman, and his Bachelors in Piano Performance from Oklahoma State University where he was a student of Dr. Thomas Lanners.

Autumn Pepper


Autumn Pepper received her Bachelor's degree at the University of Denver in Violin Performance with a minor in International Studies. Her program at the Lamont School of Music emphasized performance (in orchestral, chamber, and modern music settings) and Suzuki pedagogy.  Autumn completed her Masters of Music degree at the University of Colorado at Boulder under acclaimed violinist Harumi Rhodes.
